I would like an explanation why there is such a huge discrepancy with heterosexual single men. It's almost as if there is damn near zero demand for us, online at least.

For example, I posted a very generic craigslist ad with no pictures, one for w4m, one for m4m, one for w4m, and one for m4w. As I said, very generic, in the casual encounters section. No picture for any.

In a 24 hour period
My m4m ad - About 43 responses, most of which had pics in the first email
My w4w ad - 5 responses - 2 of them had pics
My w4m ad - About 92 responses, I'm serious.
My m4w ad - ZERO

I'm sure these results can be replicated on any dating site. So I would like a PUA to explain... why are straight single men in such low, or non-existence demand online? Yes I know it's not impossible to pick up women online, I'm just asking why the demand is so low.

Because the supply is so high, simple economics.

I don't think that's a legitimate answer. Female internet usage IIRC is close to 50%. Also, a lot of dating websites (like eHarmony) report that they have more women users than men. I don't think supply is really unbalanced, its the demand that's unbalanced.

You're posting on Craigslist, that's the problem.

But, generally, men are horndogs with less standards than women have. Women can have sex pretty much whenever they want just because they are women. Men are usually going to jump at any opportunity to have sex (hence replying to w4m and m4m adds), and as such women have so many people after them that they do not really need to search for men themselves. It's also part of our culture for women to be chased by men.

Are you saying I wouldn't get the same result posting on a dating site? I'm quite sure my results will be similar.

But still, even with men being more eager than women, it still seems that, on a larger scale, there is very little to absolutely no demand for a straight single man. Don't you find it odd that there is a higher demand for a woman looking for another woman than a woman looking for a man?

All I hear about the dating part of Craigslist is that it's filled with bullshit. So yes, I think you would have better results on another site.

Ok fine I will make 4 fake profiles on okcupid. One will be m4m, w4m, w4m, and m4w. All with generic information with no pics. I'll post the results later tonight.

Also, I checked my inbox, got even more replies for w4m, and damn the ones that send me pics were HOT. Truely is sad.

A little off topic, but I read a book called "Freakonomics" that had a section that explained the reason pretty good if I recall. Not sure if it's worth buying the book to read the little section, but worth mentioning.

I think men seeking women and with a "generic" profile.. It comes across as something near to needy. The women control who they have sex with. As I think Dream said "The women are the ones who do the picking up".

It sounds paradoxical, but at the end of the night we can only do so much. The same applies with online. Add to the fact that there is no picture, it gives a woman a huge risk of uncertainty. Going back to caveman times, a woman would search for the best possible genes for her offspring, not just any old man. So women will be more picky.

craiglist is not a reputible dating service. women probably perceive the men who post in the m4w section are creepy and/or needy and that is they only way they can get women. plus they probably don't want to send their photo to a guy they don't even know...that is creepy that he has a photo of you at his disposal...in the section w4m however, women will prob get pictures sent to them and she gets to choose if she wants to contact the guy. m4m is probably more popular on craiglist because there is more taboo and risk of a gay man hitting on another man in public. this saves the hassle of potentially hitting on a straight man (which is a higher odd).
