this does two things first of all, he is telling her not asking her for her number

second of all, he is making it seem super casual "shoot you a text" completely eases any concerns of long awkward phone conversations and him pressuring her to get together like a lot of guys do when they get on the horn with a chick for the first time

that being said...

although this is style is gold for hired guns, it might be a little too pushy in other situations where the girl is not obligated to stand there and be nice to you.

would like to check that cat out in other types of venues.

side note:
