This is an opener I thought up yesterday, it might have some potential.

So you see a HB in the supermarket. She might be a cashier, or just another customer.

---------------------------

ME: Hey, do they sell shoes here?

HB: No

ME: Why not?

HB: This is a supermarket, (if she continues from here interrupt her)

ME: But I need to buy shoes, its a birthday gift for my GF/sister/whatever

HB: Well you need to go to a shoe sto...

ME: You know what, nevermind, if you don't want to help me I'll ask someone else (said c&f ofcourse)

ME: *walks away a few steps*

ME: *turns around and looks at HB's shoes*

ME: Your shoes look pretty nice, where did you get them?

HB: blah blah

ME: Nice. Do they also come in woman's sizes?

HB: *hits you*

---------------------------

I don't really know where to go from here. Feel free to add to/rephrase/follow up this story.

comments are also most welcome.

uh yeah if you're trying to get slapped then this is a good opener. you don't have to be a dick to women until they do something that deserves punishment. in day game, you start off with friendly conversation and transition over time.

Hey, have you tried this in field to see whether it works? Because that's the only real way to tell.

In theory, anything will open.

I haven't field tested it, planning to do so though, but I figured that I'd better let you guys take a look first.

Also, I think that if this is done in the right way (not the serious dick way) you won't get slapped.

you might not get slapped, but in my opinion it's a bit of a bizarre conversation to make with someone. field test it though, i'd love to hear the results.

I think it was obvious this hasn't been field tested.
One things for sure though, it will open.
Its hard to plan a whole conversation like that, but its good to have canned lines to say just incase you cant think of anything.
I like the shoes line, picking up on things they're wearing, doing, accents is a good idea.
Try to make conversation playful and interesting, but at the same time dont make it weird.
(I've been guilty of this myself on a few occasions)
