ok so i went to my first college party last night
and for the record, i didnt think i would be invited to one in my first week, by the hostess nontheless, who is an hb8

anyway, ill skip all the bullshit and get to the point
i kept noticing that while i was talking to people, i was constantly leaning back to the counter, which was directly behind me

so in that situation, is leaning back good body language or bad?
it felt a little awkward, but standing up straight felt just as goofy

Leaning back against something is good body language. It shows that you're relaxed and comfortable with your surroundings, and it also stops you from pecking inadvertently (that is, leaning in to hear them better instead of getting them to lean into you).

Were you leaning in, out or to the side? Did it happen more or less when certain people were around? If you say it felt awkward, it might be as a result of that feeling, thus, it might make you look awkward to others as well.

Watch an expert leaner like James Dean to see how it's done.
