I don't really see appologizing as a beta thing all that much. Granted it is submissive, but it all depends on how you do it.

Over appologizing deffinatly makes you beta. Also trying to overcompensate for your wrong doing makes you look beta. But just appologizing and then being okay with everything isn't that beta. I feel the act of appologizing shows strength. Just recognize that you hurt someone say you're sorry and then move on. If they don't accept your appology don't worry about it. You tried. If they don't want to forgive you move on.

Hey, how exactly would I go about a response to an AMOG...what type of response will show that I don't get too emotional but still shows I'm a human being instead of an arrogant prick?
Be polite and get continual light compliance e.g. 'yeah your ok buddy. Hey, wouldn't mind getting us a drink man? ;) thanks dude' 'could you hold this for me for a sec? thanks dude

etc. etc. Light compliance, not heavy coz THATS being an a**hole.
I don't know where you come from, but if I stepped the line then apologised, I consider it even, thats the whole premis of apologising. Their is no way I would buy him a drink and formally apologise infront of the group.

It's too much of a flip going from alpha male of group, to the new guys bitch. Some guys would take it, many would flip, and their goes that calm dominance you had.

His apology is his "surender" I can't see any reason to push it.
Oh, I see which type of scenario you're talking about. My interactions with AMOGs are never heated/serious - always an air of sarcasm around. Always good to gain respect of his peers as well. Many guys I know relish the opportunity to change the hierarchy a bit and be on top for one night, at least
