Come on . . . do you guys really use these canned openers that have been posted all over the Internet for the last 10 years? Forget getting caught with them. To the experienced sets, you'll sounding like some silly puppet. It's all about showcasing yourself and your personality. If you use other people's openers, unless you're some actor, there's no way you will come off looking natural. It always comes off looking timed, fake, and rehearsed.

Add to this that really . . . what you actually say is probably 10% of the whole process. Why do I think this? Have any of your sarged sets who didn't speak your language? Confidence, laughter, smiles, body language, etc . . . It works. You really can just "blah, blah, blah . . ." through as long as you believe in it and carry yourself right.

Still . . . I gotta say . . . there are a few that are super gems. The photo game is hot because . . .hey, it's something that any ol' tourist would do. The apocalypse opener is simply incredible because it's what the "asshole" naturals" were doing since the caveman days. The kissing question mentioned in another thread is cool because it also transcends cultures and you can easily make it your own. Thus you can pull these routines off looking natural and spontaneous.

Anyhow . . . I just think those "I'm a psychologist routines" are pretty damn gay because it's so calculating, pre-planned, and down right nerdy. . . and as mentioned by the op, well used up.

Btw good post kasabi but personally I think using some canned openers is ok in the right context, particularly if you are a newbie, it's nice to have something prepared which is tried and tested that you can use to get going. I know the last bit is true because I am a newbie myself just getting started lol, the biggest problem for me (and most of my friends) was thinking of something to say to open the set and get a conversation going. Some guys have a quick speed of thought from the start and can think of something to say almost instantly but as a crutch to get going until you get to the point I think canned openers can be used, again I include myself in that, yesterday I was on the bus and these 2 HB8s were sat infront of me, no canned opener was gonna be right in the situation (you don't ask someone on the bus if you look like a drug dealer or gay etc) but then they got off the bus and I thought of the absolute perfect opener, too late though, the speed of thought wasn't there.

What I mean is . . . create your own canned openers. Those "famous" openers really aren't even that great. All we're talking about here in layman terms is "breaking the ice". You can do this with, "Hey what's up?" It's really not necessary to come up with these old school, thought provoking brain beaters . . . especially during the day.

Sure the situation specific cans are great. But really, what the hell does shampoo have to do with anything? The best ones are the ones you can pull off easily in any and every situation and come off looking natural. All you need are maybe 2 or 3 of em' you can can basically go around the World and open up every set you see. . . .really . . .

Dude, even if they do blow your cover as a "PUA", it's fine.
You can use any reaction given from your target as a tool to help you DHV.

Yeah, what you say is about 8% of how people perceive you- the other 92% if based on your body language and how you say it.

i work in sales and we have to go out and get referrals for our business...so we are pretty much "sarging" all day and opening sets. I find out that when you open with "hey can i ask you guys a question?" you pretty much always have thier immediate attention everytime. and you can follow up with whatever you want whether they want to buy something from you or suck your dick (or both) is a different story.

I would have said, "No, I'm not going to ask what shampoo you both use, I'm going to ask what color bra and panties you and your friend are wearing." Then, I would have made up some contrived story about how the colors they chose psychologically link them together. Remember: PUAs think on their feet, my friend. I usually don't even use openers that much anymore, but I usually come up with "spur of the moment" or situational material, and that is so much more useful and it is usually something that the targets have never heard, It lessens the chance of your being "found out" for using lines too!
