Cold reading is a method where you make generalised statement about a person or their life, to make your apper phychic as you can't be bothered using the internet to find you own definition here's a more detailed explination http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_reading

If you wanted to do more accurate reading in terms of a persons personalility then i'd highly reccomend reading The art of speedreading people as once proficent with the skills in it you will be able to deduce their personalility type with 5 mins of conversation and maybe a simple question or two makeing your "reading" far more accurate and therefore boosting it's DHV
