I have never been very good at small talk. How would I go about improving this ability? Any good books or blogs I should read about it?

Go out and talk to random ass people. There is nothing you can read that will help you with this.

Yeah go out and talk to everyone you work (especially ppl you dont know well) with you will see pattern in conversation come up. And you should recognise things which will make the convo got stale. Remember these sayings and aviod them. Practice steering the conversation into interesting areas

keep an eye on whats happening in the world at the current time , current affairs local or international , celebrity gossip , sports news . theres a topic for everyone and if its something interesting everyone wil have a view on it

A problem lots of people have is they talk about boring stuff: 'where you from' 'what work/school you do?' bla bla bla.

Try to talk about fun things you have both done... maybe that night you went out till 7 in the morning and stayed the night at some randomer's house. If you haven't got any interesting memories then go out and create some before it's too late. This will make you a more interesting person.

Remember people also love to talk about themselves. As a PUA you should know alot about personality traits body language etc. Try routines of cold-reading and other stuff or just talk about what you notice about them. They will be hungry for the topic.

Hell yeah, get out and live your life. Pay attention to your surroundings as you go through life and learn from everything. Take every opportunity that comes your way and make the best from every situation.
That's how I got over the content part of small talk...
Talk about whatever the hell you want to if coming up with stuff to talk about is your problem. Chances are, if you are interested in a topic, the girl will be also. Talk about cars or hiking or traveling or something and you'll be fine. You're the prize, not her, so act like it and make small talk out of what you want.
At least, that's what I did for not having anything to talk about...
