I know it might sound like stupid question, but really. can you dhv too much that you look like you're trying too hard? I want to take a girl out to lunch this week, but the only time I see that happening is during my lunch break when I'm working. I work at a bank so I'm dressed up. If I'm wearing slacks dress shoes and a dress shirt w/ tie, is that too much for just lunch? Should I make it a note to let her know I'm in my work clothes?

I would, but I'd be mentioning what I was up to in any case and it isn't unlikely for me to crack a joke about what I'm wearing either. I like a good, "My god I'm dressed better than you" or something joking about how much better looking I am, but it takes a good cocky/funny delivery. Highly exagerate how slick you think you look, but with a joking tone of voice and then give a good laugh at the end to account for the excessive cockiness.

This also gives good opportunities to size her up and tease her, along with some kino.

PUA: "I mean, look at this fabric" *run the back of your finger down her shirt below her collar, but above her breast, or down her upper arm*

or perhaps

PUA: "This is nice though" *touch whatever you're commenting on* (subtle neg with some approval after)

Both of those are good for push/pull and now she may be noticing how good you are dressed and she knows you're confident about it, not feeling weird and like you had to dress up, but that's just who you are. I use this sort of thing a lot when I go to bars and clubs, because I tend to dress nicer than most there and this demonstrates that you don't really care, you're just playful and this is who you are, you're not trying to show anyone up or anything.
