Each spike demonstrates higher value. Chief ( i think it was him) made a really good post about making your own. Search for it or get the link from the useful threads thread.

when you make a story keep in mind mysterys DHV spikes based on leader of men, preselected by women, protector of loved ones. You can stretch the story and exaggerate a little as long as you have the core value in the story that you are trying to get across. Keep it short, but make sure you convey your DHVs. I can't give you short stories you have to draw upon your own life for that, or else your stories will not be congruent and it will probably show.
