Where I'm from everyone moves fast, and always has their cell phone out, so I was thinking of a way to not only hit on that, but throw a neg in right off the bat to snag attention. In the mall you always see a few girls, mostly 7 - 8s, but what would be a good opener to nail this scenario?

*HB walks by, obviously texting*

"I know who you're talking to is very important, but do you ever look around as you're walking anymore?"

Hopefully this will not only take attention off the phone, but give you some value in general, while knocking her down a few pegs.

I don't know, I'm still new to this, and I want your guys' criticisms before testing this.

I like the way you are thinking. It's a good and creative opener. The big problem I see is opening 7 & 8s with a neg this strong.

A neg is a good opener for 9s and 10s as they typically have a stronger frame. However, not all girls that look like 9s and 10s have that powerful a frame, they just appear to. Anyways, I think that opening with this strong of a neg to your average 7 or 8 is going to be too much.

I don't know where you live so I can attest for the way the women are in your city. But from my experience and as a general rule of thumb you typically only need 1-2 light negs on a 7 or 8. Half the time just showing disinterest will be enough.

I see what you're saying, and that also directly affects my biggest problem; that being my comments coming off as jerk-like as apposed to being a dissinterested neg. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm probably just targeting too low, while speaking like I'm talking to a HB10. Ah well, live and learn, right?

Well, I'm at a disadvantage because I havent been able to read 'the game' yet, or any other books, so I'm just trying to make some things happen on my own, from the readings off the board and the suggestions from mPUAs. I will read it one day, but in the meantime I don't want to let my self sit without this knowledge. Thanks for the support.

Chances are the girl who you randomly say this to is gonna think you're weird and walk faster to try and get away from you.
It makes you seem like you're stalking her.

I tried it tonight at a ball game, it went a little like

Me: "Hey, you know if you take your eyes off the phone, you might see something you'd otherwise miss"
HB8: *slightly flirtatious* "Like what, it's not like the players are doing anything fantastic?"
Me: *I grabbed and rubbed her shoulder a little while using it to brace myself to stand up* "Sometimes there's better things at baseball games then the players themselves"

I left and went and hung out with my friends I came there with, moved around a little bit and talked to my female friends more specifically when I knew she was looking. Since I tried this near the end of the game it was only about 10 minutes later that I was leaving, and still new to the game I decided not to do any kind of follow up, she wasnt anything THAT special anyway. But, as I was leaving the park she kinda rushed over to me and said something like

"You know, sometimes I keep my eye on my phone, just incase Mr. Right calls, you know?"
Me: "If that's the case, you're wasting your time. Mr Right doesnt have free nights and weekends"

*she laughs*

Me: "But anyway, I need to get going, I'm meeting my friends at the coffeehouse. (I had nowhere to go, but I've read a false time constraint works well)
HB8: Well, since Mr Right isn't calling anytime soon I'll have nobody to talk to. Maybe you should change that. *she gives me her number*

I was frozen as far as a closer goes, and I know there wasn't the build up for a Kclose so I fumbled and said something like

Me: "I end up at *local coffee house name* often, You might be able to meet me up there oneday, and we'll wait for Mr. Right together. Bye.

And I drove off. I tried to neg her with the Mr. Right comment, while showing that she would be joining me in my daily routine, as apposed to her and I being equals, making her strive for it.

How did I do?
