I texted this girl a couple of hours ago saying: I'm going out for a drink soon... you should join me.... (I only met her the one time before and got her phone number but have social proof as I am a friend of her friend).
She texted back a couple of hrs later saying: would do but I've got a training session to go to tonight... sorry!...yh it really is a fetish (I teased her about how she loves to skate and how her summer is planned around this).

what should i say to this: no worries, I just came back home anyway so you would have missed me anyway etc- something along those lines/ something cocky funny?

I don't think she is flaking but what do you guys think?

I know I'm late with response but you set yourself up for failure expecting her to say yes to coming out with you instantly...why because you don't know what she has scheduled that day

No more on the fly plans... do that once you've actually been hanging out with the girl for a while otherwise you'll just get your feelings hurt when she says "NO!!"

I made sure I txted her a few times the night before. When she said she was busy my txt said... It's good you're so passionate about something, I'm the same way about guitar (trying to get a connection there)... no worries, I just came back from a drink with a few mates anyway (showing I had other options).

The one thing is that I don't know what to do now: if i ask again and she is busy again then I'm just gonna move on as that seems like the best thing but how would I minimise the risk of flaking?

Tell her you would like to have a drink with her and ask her if she has got time next saturday or whatever.
If she has no time ask her to suggest another day.

Just let her know next time you're doing something you think might interest her and invite her along. Or ask her what she's up to this evening, and if she asks why just tell her you're keeping tabs. If she's free you could make a suggestion.

simply send her a text "do you want to hang out sometime?"
she can only respond yes or no then go from there
