I'm not sure, but would this be something good to say, if they say you're hitting on them, or even mention the phrase "hitting on", or talk about having a boyfriend?:

"Wait, you think I'm hitting on you? Is this what it's about?"

I'm not sure, but unless the girl is really straight forward, even if that WAS what she meant, she would be nice and say "Oh, no tha's not what I meant..."--> and then starts qualifying herself. Comments?

i had a similar question about a specific girl about 10 minutes ago and my buddy gave me some insight
this was specifically going for a number close on a girl who was recently married
after asking for the number im expecting to get some resistance like "oh you know im married right" but he told me to counter with "dont flatter yourself. i mean your cute but your not my type at all" or some variation of that.

If they are saying that, then you are doing one or both of the following:

1) Displaying too much interest early on
2) Not using false disqualifiers

Don't look for a quick comeback to that line, look for ways to avoid it.

"oh i think someone..... stares at them self in the mirror a bit too much"

well said........ you are probably coming on too strong.....

create attraction first, then she will hit on you.....

if all else fails......try saying stuff like '' yeah i suppose you're cute, but you're not my type''
or point at some other dude and say ''you would be better off with him'', make sure the guy is an ugly bastard with no social value.....

use your body language to show not as much interest as you are displaying....
