Hey,

Well, I visited one of these for the first time today, namely as I am going to be going to the US for a few months and don't feel like being the pasty English guy - here in Manchester the chances of sun are about as low as winning the lottery.

So anyway, naturally I am not 'white', I do have an olive complexion to my skin, though obviously as the year goes on and I am exposed to less and less direct sunlight it fades a little. So today I visited a tanning salon, I felt a little embarrassed about it but just treated it as if it were an approach - if I didn't get out of the car and in to the shop within about 3 seconds then it wasn't going to happen.

The feeling of energy and confidence a tan gives you is great, slowly throughout the day my skin got a little darker and I could see a real difference. So, for risk of being ridiculed I figured I would come on here and see if anyone else has visited one of these?

Dont be worried about being ridiculed, afterall isn't that what the forum is for advise and opinions on things, aswell as the obvious sharing Pick ups / lay reports.

But yeh i havnt been into one before but im seriously considering it, im from around the Portsmouth area so again not much sun at all here and i simply don't tan well anyway so this seems like a good option for me.. tbh i was gonna write a post about peoples opinions on it until i came across this one :)

Tanning salons are cool. I had a modeling gig i had coming up early in the spring and I was definitely pasty, i tanned for like a week and people complimented me on the darker complexion. Do it, its such a confidence booster when there is no sun around.

I seriously dont see what's the deal with "tanning."
I'm asian, but every other asian is really dark-skinned, and there's a lot of filipinos in my area. So I actually prefer being light-skinned, it makes me stand out. and I'm not totally white; more of a creme-complexion. I don't even use any facial cleaning products. I just shower in the morning and rinse my face with water; some girls have stated that they're jealous of my complexion cus I've never really had any pimple outbreak and my scars disappear fast (or maybe they just blend in, that's the good thing about being light-skinned)

So I think worrying about skin-color is ridiculous and will destroy your confidence.
I think having an English accent is a plus. I think I understand what your skin-complexion is, and it should be fine. Seriously, you don't need a tan. It won't make a difference.

I go to the tanning salon a couple times a week right now because I haven't been going for a few months. Once you get a decent tan though you only need to go about once a week.

I think it's really worth it though, it does make you feel more energetic and vital due to the vitamin D you're getting, as well as giving you a more attractive skin tone to women and for me a big bonus is that I don't burn and get sunstroke due to having a shaved head.

Well, I'm glad I am not the only one! :D I don't worry about it, it is just not exactly seen as something men do round here, I don't see why though as it is actually good for you, but whatever.

NOILLUSION, I am not necessarily doing it to 'look' better, though one reason of course is that due to walking around in t-shirt most days you get the wonderful t-shirt tan, so my torso is levelling out with my forearms etc.

destroy your confidence
I totally disagree im afraid, sounds like you get alot of great things said about you Noillusion and that obv works for you, but me on the other hand loads of people jokingly mock my skin colour cause i am really pale and allways have been.. its just me, and so tbh i love the idea of having a new tan and it will Improve my confidence, (not that it really need improving i come across as quite cocky most of the time 8) ) i just think it will be a nice change.
