I'm reasonably good looking, so when I'm on the dance floor I tend to get a few girls eyeing me up. Now here's where it falls to pieces. If we were off the dance floor I could smile, do a direct approach and open to see how it goes, however on the dance floor I really don't know what to do.

What tends to happen is that I get eye contact with the HB, she gives the look and I smile. Then she kind of backs toward me whilst in her circle of friends. Now I'm not sure how to proceed and I don't like the idea of grabbing her from behind due to the fear of social rejection in front of her friends and I don't feel confident enough to grind her from behind, so I just continue dancing with my back to her. Eventually the attraction fizzles out (as she gets frustrated with me) and I get annoyed about my AFC'ness. The only times I pull in these situations are when the girl is confident (drunk) enough to jump on me.

Any advice on this kind of situation would be great, thanks.

Ok this is very simple if a girl is eye balling you while your on the dance floor do this: Approach Her Now!!! and simply say Hi and if shes like whattt? all you have to say is "Oh i just thought you were an intresting person so i came up to you, whats your name?" Fin

Yeah and get the DJ to turn the music down for you before you say that.
I know there are some places where you can hear each clearly on the dance floor but its rare.

Yeah that's the general problem, if the girl is happily dancing and you go over to try to talk first of all she'll be under pressure and will have to stop dancing and secondly you have to make sure she can actually hear what you're saying which can be difficult. I think this has to be done non verbally really, am i wrong?

2. Stick your index finger out and curl the rest of your fingers.
3. Turn your hand so that your palm is facing up.
4. Curl your index finger.
5. Extend your index finger.

Unless you are a really really good dancer never NEVER try pick up on the dance floor. If you want to get a girl at a club go to the smoking area or somewhere quiet. The only way to impress a girl on a dance floor is to blow her away with your moves and if you don't have them it is very unlikely to pick up a girl there. I believe Style said something along those lines in one of his interviews.

Oh, right, sorry, I neglected to mention that because I assumed since he's on the dance floor often that he's able to acquit himself decently there. Yeah, don't try picking up a girl on the floor if you can't move. I mean, I've seen it happen, but either the guy had great game or it was just dumb luck because he was hitting on a girl who couldn't dance either. MOST of my pickups involve dancing, but yeah, it's not for the unskilled.

And if you aren't a good dancer learn to dance. Anything. It will help you develop your focus which is essential if you wish to better yourself in any area of life.

And I would definitely suggest learning the October Man.

Depends on the style of dance.

Hip hop is mostly solo dancing so if a girl likes the way you move, it's a massive DHV and you're in. Dance/grind/whatever with her for a song or two, then lead her off by the hand to a table/bar/hotel room.

Ballroom is completely different. It's partner dancing, and has so many more elements to it as a result. If you can't dance, it's a massive DLV (girls think it has to do with your ability in bed, which is half true since ballroom requires a lot of hip movement), and will turn girls away. So if you're in an upscale dance club with guys and gals in suits and dresses doing the Viennese Waltz and you don't know your left foot from your right, do NOT try gaming girls on the dance floor.
