Learn a little bit of XCM (extreme card manipulation) and instead of walking up and saying hey guys wanna see a magic trick? Casually take the deck out of your pocket and perform the sybil or a card spring or a under pressure or any other flourish you know and they will automatically assume from the way you handle the cards that you know magic and they will ask you for a magic trick.

It really depends on the trick. Card tricks are hard to throw into a conversation. As people have said "hey that's interesting, now on a similar subject allow me to whip out my card deck and show you some card tricks" doesn't work very well!

Stuff like levitation on the other hand is gold. Last weekend I was sitting at a table in a bar with three girls, one of whom was talking to me about god knows what, i wasn't really listening. Anyway I was playing around with a £5 note and all of a sudden it just floated up in front of me out of my hands - the girl just trailed off and her jaw just hit the table! I couldn't have got rid of her and her friends for the rest of the evening if I had tried!

the card spring is so slick if you can do it!!i learned how but it doesnt look anything like the pros!!

Hey, just wondering if we can get some info on a few of these tricks like
Derren Browns invisble touch and the floating note thing that Jaster mentioned.

Rather than make a deal out of it (incase it goes wrong or they're not impressed) I like to be doing some trick eg with a lighter while we're sitting or in smalltalk and then, if impressed, start to teach it to them. If you pick a hard one and they struggle it's a good opportunity for a neg or to touch their hands
