I came up with a story to tell a girl in a conversation. Well, not really a story but just something that I think might work to get some interest. Its not true of course. I tell the girl that I have a friend from back home, I'm far away from the state where I grew up right now, who I was really close with and that we grew up together and knew each other from when we were just barely able to talk, that part is true enough I guess. Then I explain that I was just talking with this friend and that he has just bought a puppy. And now this friend wants to name the dog after me becuase he says he misses me so much. Then I ask the girl about what my reaction should be.

I think this will give me some social proof and its also a really funny thing to talk about thats kind of interesting.

Any problems with this idea that you can spot? Any good parts?

This is going to sound defensive, but why is it corny? I would actually genuinely like to know before I end up using it. And I thought stories that gave you higher value whether they were true or not were just what you do. It would fit in with a kind of image I'm trying to make thats hard to explain but is generally meant to seem artistic and very unique/different that I think matches better with who I actually am.

1. if your friend was to buy a puppy do you really think he would do that?
2. if you were going to buy a puppy would you do that?

5. artistic? you're better off saying your friend is starting a band back home and he wants to call it "X" (X being something you used to call eachother when you were back home..)

i wouldnt go with it though :/ not awful..but not for me..

Yeah, maybe its not plausible enough. Thats a good point. I just thought that the fact that its so unusual would be part of its appeal.

What if it was my two friends who were roommates now. I just think it would sound too manipulative if I made the friend a girl.

Honestly, from a female standpoint I would probably laugh at how lame it sounded. I mean c'mon a guy naming his puppy after you...thats screaming gay.
