I find I become more relaxed, therefore more comfortable approaching sets when I have had a couple of drinks.

Not gone for the close yet, as i'm new to the game, but I just started talking to mixed sets, just to get the old confidence up, and it went well.

As far as I'm concerned picking up women sober and picking them up drunk is a totally different game with a totally different set of rewards. When I'm sober, it's more like a waiting game where patients and stratagy score me points. Drunk, Its more of a fast paced test of my charm and ability to make a first impression and then ride it all the way back to her/my bed.
