Hello gentlemen,

I'm your average frustrated chump from Philadelphia. I took a few years off from dating and to a large extent even socializing in order to focus on my master's in Computer Engineering. Needless to say, that really took a toll on my social life by decreasing my friend circle as well as my social skills.

My personal goal for this year is to revive my sex life as well as dramatically improve my social life. I stumbled upon The Mystery Method and the TV show The Pickup Artist. I really like the idea of approaching groups of people and eventually picking up my target. I am half way into The Game. This forum seems like a great resource, it's great to meet others with similar goals and I'd be interested to hear any advise on how to get started with the minimum amount of initial book knowledge. I want to avoid 'analysis paralysis'.

I assume I need a few canned openings, negs, and interesting routines at a minimum. I could probably use some help with a new style (peacocking), so far I highlighted my hair and went clothes shopping for the first time in years, but I suck at jewlrey, accessories and incorporating stuff like that. I have yet to develop a dating routine, and find target-rich places in the city for each day of the week. My main problems have historically been that I suck in clubs, and when I did have the balls to approach girls I never closed. Conversation would quickly get boring and so forth (it would be nice to have magic like Mystery, or even comedy to fall back on). I always been "too cool" and refrained from showing interest in girls. So, I really need help with that part of my game.

First let me say that the area around the Philly Intl Airport is scary. I mean, seriously, have you driven through there? I swear they put all the ritzy $300 a night hotels with all the fat, rich, ignorant, traveling businessmen right next to the slums. Great mixture there, people who stop you on the street to ask for handouts right next to people who wipe their Armani clad asses with what I presume to be satin handkerchiefs.

Oh um, anyway, I recommend complementing your readings with The Venusian Arts Handbook. Check out the various sections of the forum for ideas, and be sure to drop by the stickied threads (they say "sticky" next to them in orange letters) of our very competent and helpful moderators in the Newbie Section and PUA Lounge.
