I wouldn't text a girl I haven't met yet. To me it shows too much interest right off the bat. That is unless you know for a fact she's DEFINITELY interested in you. Otherwise, you look weird having her number and her not given it to you. (almost stalkerish) Let your cousin introduce you and then you get the number.

I know I didn't answer your question but to me, texting a girl I've never met is gay. At least call her and say something like looking forward to meet you or something. OR if you hate talking on the phone, you can always txt, hey this is john, lookin forward to meeting you. That might sound a bit AFC since you're the prize and you don't want to come off as "interested" but w/e.
