You be surprised how many things in life ultimately come back to family? TV show characters would give you the impression that it's not, as they are often protrayed as stand-alone characters. But that's not really true to life. Or maybe it's more so the case when you're younger. It's kind of luck of the draw what you're born with! I've got two sisters - one older, one younger.

At times I wish I'd a brother - not that that wouldn't come with problems either. But it's often that I hear a friend who'd talk about a brother that he'd have learned something about from. Whether it be about cars, someone to play sports with, someone to jam with, etc. A brother could be a stepping stone to making new friends, or even a potential wing man. Friends come and go, so I guess a brother would be a nice fall back position during certain times in life.

I don't believe that having sisters helps you understand women better. Maybe I would be better off if I viewed women merely as sexual creatures. I don't know how my sisters are of any benefit to me in any way?? Of my two of them, unfortunately it's the older one that I have a personality clash with, so we don't talk... literally don't talk! And there's something about having personality clashes with the opposite sex that makes it worse. When you have a clash with a member of the same sex, I think there's a some small level of respect, or the option for communication.

It was actually from watching 'Two and a half men' (original series) that made me realise this. I just couldn't help but think about much more miserable Alan's life would be without Charlie in it (& vis versa). Alan has it tough, but at the end of the day, he's got someone he can confide in. I feel like they have the same problems as me in many ways... with women, with their mother - but the difference is they have each other.

Who said it did? And why would you rely on your sister to understand women? That doesn't make sense.

Merely? the hell are you talking about? Women are, highly at that, sexual creatures, but what do you mean "merely"?

And how is it that you view them now, anyway?

Where do you get the idea that they should be? I really don't get it. Why do you believe the purpose of a sibling in life is to serve you, one way or another?

There's respect when you clash with someone you respect. Gender has nothing to do with it.

That's just bullshit. First off, it's a show. You can't compare a show with reality.
Secondly, Alan is a failure portrayed through a comedic filter. Charlie is his polar opposite. He has neither 10% of his brothers money, charisma, charm, looks and the women Charlie brings home are the ones Alan barely even dreams of.
And he's reminded of that. Every. Single. Day. Now if this were real life, and not a soap opera, you tell me, do you still think it would be a blessing?

Stop wasting your time watching re-run TV shows. You're thinking too much about something you literally have NO control over so therefore, doesn't matter. On with life.
