Well another option you could try is to go to one of those beauty salons. I've actually did this once since, at the time, my parents thought it would be better than going on Accutane. It got me REALLY good results at first, it cleared up a lot of redness and acne. Granted, this is a temporary solution and a fairly expensive one at that. It was also really painful, lol.
But if you have the money to drop on it, I'd definitely try it out, it also makes your skin really smooth, always a plus.
I have this specialized center for acne, close to where I live. They are able to tell you your exact skin type and what kind of SPAM you need. They also work as a beauty salon and can treat your acne within an hour.
This is probably similar to what you experienced. However, is it worth it? Will my acne clear out COMPLETELY - and I'll live happily ever after?
I cant say it's a permanent solution, but it is a very good one. The only reason I think it didn't work for me was because I was 16 or so when I tried it so I was still having massive breakouts.
Would I be willing to try it again now that my acne has settled down? Definitely. Would I recommend it to people who don't have severe acne and want smoother/clearer skin? For sure.
I'd have to agree with most people here though, acne isn't that big of a deal, it's only crippling if you let it be.
