I've left it a good few days now, so may send another message. I feel on the back foot already though and find it hard to think of something to say that isn't just repeating what I said in the initial message (sounding desperate to send it twice) but can't straight out make a fuss because her initial reaction will be that I'm a dick.
I wouldn't send her another message. If she got your friend request, she got your message. You said she was on holiday, so let her settle in back home. If she wants to respond, she will... there is no reason to make a fuss about it because surely she doesn't live on Facebook so I wouldn't worry about it. Next time you run into her, don't hesitate to talk to her. It's better in person than over a computer.
Yeah, I agree about it being better in person, but I do sometimes find it easily to converse online as you get time to think about your responses. As well as this, I only see this girl when she is working in a bar that isn't too close to me. I'll maybe just have to make a point of visiting a bit more often! I liked the idea of speaking to her on chat. I may do this, initiate a chat when she's online, talk a bit, make my excuses and go offline. This may set up more nicely for the next time I see her in real life.
