I have to say though I think it can be good to say something to the extent that you are "looking for people to hang out with" rather than "looking for a relationship" because that can come across as needy. I usually say something like "I'm always looking for people to go biking or diving with so let me know if you want to go play outside." Have gotten pretty good response rates.
I agree with you on this point. Most people are on dating sites to find relationships and it's no big secret. With that being said it should be just "assumed" that is what she is after, but it can be discussed in person. I like the way you approach this by saying let's go biking or diving, etc. That is a lot easier to agree to than "I'm wanting a relationship." Even though that is what ultimately a lot of people are after saying that "out loud" in a sense just adds pressure to the situation. By doing it this way it keeps it light and FUN (which is the ultimate attraction switch by the way)!!!
