This thread annoys me and I'm not going to pull any punches. I apologize in advance for my tone.

Yes I've tried it, and smoked through out highschool, but it just kills brain cells.
No... no it doesn't. None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study.

almost every person that smokes I have to say is a freakin moron, I don't want to hear about your dad's friend who is a lawyer or doctor and smokes weed.
I work with some stoners and it is bullshit the shit they do. Its like they can't connect the fucking dots between simple things. The critical thinking part of the mind is basically shut down.
I'd like to call attention to your horrible reasoning skills here. You initially disregard the anecdotal evidence of others and then immediately base your argument on... anecdotal evidence. It doesn't work that way. There are plenty perfectly valid reasons why one might want to deem a certain category of evidence as unworthy of proof of a certain position, but you can't just ignore evidence that goes against your beliefs and then use the same type to try and make a point..... well... I guess you technically CAN do it, but it makes you just as big a moron as you suggest "stoners" are.
As for the "critical thinking part of the mind shutting down" thing. Not true. An article published in 2005 states that the majority of evidence from non flawed studies demonstrates associations with short-term and task-specific memory only. So heavy users sometimes forget things. Big deal. It has nothing to do with their overall intelligence or ability to carry on a conversation. Furthermore, another study showed that current marijuana users and recent quitters seemed to have neuroadaptions in certain areas of the brain that indicated that they had higher attention levels than non-users. So there are certain definite positive neurological side effects to go along with the negative ones.
I know it's a hard concept to grasp, but correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation. Have you ever stopped to consider that perhaps the people you work with couldn't connect the dots between simple things BEFORE they started smoking pot? Or that perhaps you were an idiot in high school because you were... in high school... and most kids are idiots in high school?
I have an idea... why don't you try not being such a judgmental asshat? If you don't want to smoke then don't smoke but stop walking around with your nose in the air like you're better than people who do or that you need to go on some self-righteous crusade to make people "better." That way you can accept this girl for the way she is. You'll be happy to have a cool and smart girl and she won't have do deal with being hounded by you and your socially sculpted view of reality... It's a win/win!!
