Hi!

Since fitness is important for confidence I need some advice here.

I have a problem that I can eat whatever I want, even food that people think "it will make you fat" like lots of pizzas, and I still remain skinny.

Have anyone being through it? How do you stop being skinny?

It usually has to do with your age, my guess is that you are under 25, and your bodytype is called an ectomorph.
Your body type causes you to look this way, usually it changes slightly as you get older and your metabolism slows down.

What you can do is to work out a lot and make sure that you eat all the protein you need to support muscle growth.

Since you are thin I can't recommend you to hit the heaviest weight immidiately, your joints would suffer from this.

Lift weights that weigh about 70 - 80% of your maximum lifting capacity, work out hard 3 sets of 15 reps on each exercise.

I can also recommend that you take some sort of supplement, creatine will make you stronger and cause you to retain more water, which will make you look bigger.

I would like to add to this.

Lower reps = Bigger. Those high reps is for muscle stamina.

Creatine, yes. Also look into a stack with it of NO-Xplode and Cytogainer for more calories.

If you really want to look into Animal products by Universal Labs.

Find a good size building routine as well, if you want one I can give you one.

Yes lower reps higher weight will build strength, BUT, if you are skinny you need to build up endurance in order for your joints and bones to be able to carry the heavier weights. You can't just hit the heavy low rep sets immediately. This will only cause injuries and then you can't work out at all.

Also, the 3 sets of 15 reps was designed by Arnold Schwarzenegger when he wanted to get back in shape before Terminator 2, that guy is everything but skinny!

Your sets of 15reps should be heavy though, if you barely can lift up the weight on number 15 you know you are using the right weight!

I just took it that the OP has been lifting a while but can't seem to gain a damn thing. lol

So yes, if you haven't been lifting, listen to sly for sure.

Also, Arnold used that for his pumps and metabolic system! To get big he used different methods.

:D At least you aren't a close minded PT.

You're probably only eating 2,000 calories a day.

I had the exact same problem as you all my life—I was REALLY skinny and bony and I stayed this way no matter what I ate. Eventually I learned about calories and began to measure my calories each day, and I figured out that i was only averaging about 1,900 calories a day! I just wasn't eating enough to gain any weight, and as a kid I rode a bicycle about five miles a day, and that burned off hundreds of calories.

If you want to gain, you should increase your calories to 3,000 a day. If you don't gain a pound or two in a week from that, increase it to 3,500 calories a day. Remember to eat every three hours, which equals about 6 or 7 times a day.

Of course you'll need to weight lift, or else you'll just gain only fat. Ensure you're at least getting 1 gram of protein for each pound of body weight, and try to lay off sugary drinks like Coke and Pepsi or cakes, pies, deserts, white bread, white rice, sugary cereal, fast food, TV dinners, syrups, jellies, and doughnuts. Otherwise, a lot of that weight you gain will be unsightly fat probably in the form of belly fat and love handles.

Talk to the trainiers at your gym. Tell them your goals.
Usually they will make you a free workout plan.

-Do lower sets (around 3) with max reps.
Try to get between 8-10 reps with each
-Creatine
-Try eating more peanut butter and drinking more milk

You need to watch ur calories and nutrient Intake more

You need .8 G's of protien per pound of body weight, & for energy & water transportation (thats prolly not the techinical term if any nutritionist or body builders are reading this, but you get it) you need complex carbohydrates (by eating fruits & Vegetables instead of sugar and bread) try to figure out your daily caloric need which there is a math formula to figure that out, but I dont know it off hand, so google it, but add like 500 calories daily to that to gain weight, & Make Sure, If your eating more protien, that you have 45-60% of your calorie intake be carbs, because too much protien can cause long term problems with your body if your not balancing it out with carbohydrates, & Also, Use the Glycemic index to figure out what foods contain carbs that wont raise your insulin and cause you to produce fat (which shouldnt really be a huge problem for you, but its prolly healthier to do it anyway)

But To gain weight your deff gonna have to upp your protien intake, & your lifting, Make sure you work your chest & legs alot. Working out your legs is known to increase your testosterone 5% & Your chest is like the main thing you need if your trying to gain weight, for a reason I cant remember at the moment..

but yeah... Do that, & you'll gain weight. The reason fatty foods arent doing anything is cuz your metabolism is really good, so Its just turning it to energy, but if you use protien to build tissue, and use resistance training theres no reason for you to not gain weight.

creatine is also amazing. along with BCAA's & Protien supliments,

And Make sure you get alot of water, fuck soda, fuck artificial juices, all that shit, water is whats gonna work for you.

Physical Looks are very important because at the end o the day we all judge by looks first and then character once we get to know them.

Therefore, If your the same slim body type like i was then best thing to do would be;

1) Buy a home gym setup cheap (bench bar wieghts and dumbells - after a year when your confidence and wieght is up join a gym)
2) Train like a monster
3) Eat like a monster
4) Rest like a Lion
5) chase after your goals in life
6) Read & build PUA knowledge
7) Practice practice and practice

Remeber, anything is possible !

I overcame being an ectomorph. I think I've heard of this term somewhere before, well it was re-born today after reading your post. I'm 5'11" and have been that height since I was around 16. I also weighed about 150-155 lbs. from the time I was 16. I'm now 22 and weigh about 175-180 lbs.

I gained the entire 25+ pounds in the last year of my life. Prior to that, I had tried to workout my whole life, taking supplements, participating in sports etc. Now, the above methods posted by people on this topic are all important. But I must say for myself that increasing your calorie intake is a must!

I started my first three months by increasing my intake, with various forms of meal supplements, ontop of my 3-4 meals per day. I was in the Caribbean at the time and used a liquid supplement called Supligen. It can probably be compared to Ensure. I would take copius amounts of this stuff initially. Sometimes equaling upwards of an additional 3,500+ calories. During this phase I gained the most weight, and did light cardio workouts.

I then maintained the growth for 9 months. I continued liquid meal supplements and implemented strict and intense physical workout during the next 7 months. My growth still came, but at a lower rate. I'm now weaned off of the liquid stuff (it's not the healthiest choice for calories) and just affording the time, effort, and money to make extra food everyday. I live alone and will cook a dinner for a small family and end up eating it all myself throughout the night.

CALORIES :!:

your still an ectomorph regardless of your weight/height :P

Ectomorph: You naturally small/skinny/fatless people who cant gain any weight and have a fairly tough time gaining muscle.

Mesomorph: Naturally geneticly anythingly beasts.

Endomorph: Us fatter guys, bigger guys, guys who put on weight easy, muscle fairly easy and fat easy but its harder for us to lose fat/weight.

They are your genetic body types.

Its funny how people complicate gaining/losing weight. To gain weight, create a caloric surplus. Add extra calories to your typical daily diet, say 500 calories a day per week. You will gain weight. In conjuction with a workout plan, this excess energy (calories) will be used toward building muscle. Thus, you become heavier. To lose weight, create caloric deficit. Subtract 500 cal a day per week and you will technically lose weight (that is, even though it may not be perceptually quantifiable, its physically impossible to gain/maintain weight in a deficit from normal energy intake. Study physics.) Coupled with cardiovascular exercise, your body will be conditioned to require less energy (food) for normal function, which translates into a fitter body. About six months ago i weighed about 130 lbs. Adding a huge surplus of calories and extensive workout ruitines, i managed to gain 24lbs within less than 4 months. For most people, i'd guess the discrepancy in this is will-power. Given the simplicity of the task and the vastly known, sought-after, and envied benefits, wouldnt you think everyone would be physically fit, ripped, buff, etc? Will power, consistency and dedication seem to be lacking in this sector and time in society. Back in ancient times human beings required physical fitness for survival. Now, all you need is internet connection and starbucks. Times have changed, and so have bodies. Our genetics though, have not changed at the same degree. We still have excellent genetic potential, yet very few realize this fact. We think, "oh, im too fat/too skinny, i've been this way my whole life, its not going to change". The reality is, a couple thousand years ago, your very flesh and blood was fighting off tigers and DRAGONS (you get the point); but now, the same dna is fighting off dragons and tigers in world of warcraft, all the while you are wondering why you're so out of shape. There it is. Just realize that your success in fitness relies on the amount of work you put in to it. Work hard, and results will show. This was very wordy and tangential.. deal with it =)

Add 500 cals to your diet and lift lift and lift no cardio. Do 3-5 sets 67% of one rep max or higher and about 6-12 reps. Make sure you get in those 6-12 because 6 reps and under you are training for strength. Also try to pre exhaust your muscles by don't isolation exercises. Do your triceps before the bench. Do curls before your pull ups. Do drop sets and a drop set is when you take off a little weight and keep going after you gas out of the current weight you are using. So if you are benching 225 and you fail at 7 reps drop the weight down to 185 then go till you can't and then drop that down to 135 and go till you can't. That is just a example. Drop sets can be done on the bench by loading on small weights in stead of big ones. It might look funny but it works.
