Hello,

Ok... so like practically everyone else who posts on this section of the forum, I'm pretty new. If you've read any of the posts below mine, then you probably already have 90% of my story, and I won't bore you by repeating the obvious.

Stuff that's different. I'm an English guy working and living in Japan. I don't speak Japanese, or rather, I barely speak Japanese. Just enough to order fast food and get taxicabs home at 5am.

Like most others I'm here because of The Game. I like the theories, and am looking forward to putting some of it to the test. But... I'm curious to know whether any Non-Verbal techniques exist. The language barrier out here is killing me. And you really have to go above and beyond to out-peacock the natives. *grin*

He man,
I'd suggest reading a few books on body language. They will help you a lot with the non verbal communication when there's such a big language barrier.

I lived there for 2 years. You are already peacocking being white. That is enough. All I did was walk into a nightclub and point at the girl and she would come up to me. Just hang out at the mall if there is one near your house. Roppungi is not like it used to be. They closed the lex down.

Learn the language. Bust your ass in it. Try to say I will teach English you will teach me Japanese. Make a huge effort. Memorize those two books Mina no Nihongo

what takes you to Japan?

where abouts in japan are you?

And yeah, I was in Roppungi briefly two years ago.. really loved the place, but it was like a tuesday night. I ended up missing my flight home to Australia, but that's another story.

Oh man! Japan is great! I was stationed there for a while. The biggest and best thing to do is learn japanese, but you cant learn it too well! Well, learn it, but when trying to pick up women dont come off like you are really fluent... say wrong words here or there or speak in the womans way instead of the mans.... if you speak perfect japanese they'll most likely call you "Playboy" or "Cho-Cho" (Cho CHo is butterfly... it means you have a butterfly mind, you jump from flower to flower)
Most of them will know english and will want to speak in english so don't worry too much about depending on it but on approches speaking in japanese can be fun...
kowai = scary
Kawaii = cute
I got alot more ass calling girls scary then I did calling them cute... They see youre putting in some effort but they know your not super fluent and talking to everygirl... they'll laugh and try to teach you how to speak
have alot of jun kan fights too! (rocks paper scissors)
And just generally be really fun
One last thing... learn "Yokohama Japanese". The lanuage varies so much that someone from Soporro will have no Idea what someone from Hiroshima is saying and they will have to speak to each other in Yokohama Japanese... a compliment in one part of the country could be an insult in another... learn Yokohama japanese and the dialect of the prefecture youre in.

I've actually spent time recently working on my "gaze". Just like other body language, your eyes play an important role in how people view you.

I started working on my gaze because my natural look almost makes it appear that I'm bored, or too laidback, sometime mad or intimidating, which I am not.

Your rearview mirror is a great way to practice, becaue you can make it so you can only see your eyes. I worked on forming my eyes into different "feelings". Mad, surprised, happy, laughing, intimidating...taking notes about what each looks like.

True to God story...Tuesday of this week I went to Borders to try a few techniques. When I walked in, I saw two HBs (5, 7.5). They noticed me walking in. I concentrated on my "cool look" (laid back, just at the book store look) as I walked in. The three of us caught eyes for a moment, and I continued to walk past them.

Not 2 minutes later, both came walking by me as I was checking out books on scuba diving. They passed me, and a moment later came back by for a second time. Seeing two IOI's, I put the book down, and set course to intercept their path.

As the two HB's walked past me, I stopped, and gave the second girl (HB7.5) my intense/focused look...what seemed like 5 minutes was actually 2-3 seconds...SHE STOPPED DEAD IN HER TRACKS, SMILED, SAID HI, AND INTRODUCED HERSELF!!!!

I have never had this happen to me in my life, and this was my first time trying in public. I was so damn shocked that I just started giggling...I had to walk away.

I'm going to continue honing this skill!!
