Broke 3 second rule and waited about 25-20 minutes before approach but there were intervals where it was a meet and separate. When I decided it was a go, it was only about 5-10 second before I approach form the side line. At that point no social proof was established.

I’d opened with an opinion about here zune mp3 player. “Can I get your opinion on something?” There was a downfall here; she was listening to the mp3 player so I had to repeat myself 2 more times after she took off the headphone. Totaling 3 times and stuttering.

I went on ask her about the zune mp3 player and she gives me the usual pitch on how it was easy to use. I didn’t neg her at all. I could have said “Those are hippie players” or something along the line. Instead I just accepted the opinion. At the time she was on her 2nd set of exercise, I saw that her body movement indicated that she wanted to go back to her set of exercise, I was able to extend that for maybe 5 more sec before I said thanks and went on about. At that moment I just didn't want to keep her from her exercise because I saw a body sift already.

There was a possibility that I could have just told her that her tips was good and if we could continue this conversation another time. It might have led to a number close…
