Even if everybody knew about pick-up theory, it would still work. Guys know that girls wear make-up and yet it is still effective. It's the same thing. We learn good game to appear more attractive to women. Even if women know about game-theory, they are still going to be attracted to guys with good game.
Also, good game is more than just a few memorized openers.
