Hey all!

I'm writing a rulebook on being a successful individual which only applies to men. Basically, I have some clear cut rules...and I've got some more philosophical stuff in there. All in all, it's an easy read and based on years of my experiences, others experiences and the road to the top. So PRINT it out and PLEASE: Let me know what you think about it. I wanna know if it would be worth it to actually make it into a book. Thanks Y'all!

So what do you guys think? I put up more rules and a Word document so it's easier to read. Also, here's a link to my blog if you're interested: http://DieselTCabrera.blogspot.com

7. Never, ever, show your emotions to a girl unless you are married to her, and even then you shouldn’t because that shows weakness. Weak men get dumped and cheated on. A relationship is a constant power struggle between 2 parties. Never show weakness.
Could you clarify why you think this please? I disagree, showing emotion when you are in a relationship, both positive and negative is a great way to get closer.
Quote:
22. Delete your Facebook account the day after college graduation. If you are planning on continuing school, it’s fine to leave it up
This is plain crazy, social networking is a massive part of most people's lives and a great way to communicate, keep up to date with events and with what is going on and also to keep in contact with people.
Quote:
25. Never do the following:
Get your eyebrows done
Massively disagree, if you have really bushy, untidy or only have 1 eyebrow, then you need to sort it out. If you are not confident doing it yourself, there is no issue getting it done. Better to look well groomed.
Quote:
35. Always smile when entering a room
Fantastic advice!
Quote:
54. There are two things you should never say: “I don’t know”
Again, disagree. Saying you don't know in a confident way is far far better than bullshitting and pretending you know about something.

Just my input.

Madals,

First off, I really appreciate you checking out my work! Thanks!

I knew that a lot of readers would get confused by the logic behind my rules, so I actually thought of making a volume dedicated to explaining each rule. But that's for a later time...

Everything in the rule book is more than just an opinion of mine, it's all based on many experiences of mine and people I know. With that said, my responses to rule specifics:

7. In my experiences, every time I actually get emotionally involved in a relationship, it collapses. The majority of females are in it for the thrill of the chase, so once you get soft, her task is accomplished and it's time for her to move one to the next. In a relationship, the man wears the pants. Emotions get in the way of the pants. However, I do believe in love and falling in love. But people tend to "fall in love" too easily.

22. A lot of people have to agree with you on that one, so I'll probably end up changing it. Originally, I wanted to put MySpace, which is probably more reasonable.

26. This is actually kind of funny because I do a couple things mentioned in Rule 25. Am I a hypocrite? Depends on who you're talking to. I put Rule 26 for that reason. Only do things listed in Rule 25 if you MUST.

54. I never really like the wording of this rule. I'm gonna change it to include a part about avoiding saying "I don't know" such as asking questions and changing the subject. The main part of this rule is to never verbally say "I don't know".

Again thanks for the input! Don't forget to check out my blog: DieselTCabrera.blogspot.com

An updated version of the book is up there.

I would say its more a case of learning WHEN to show emotion. If you show too much emotion, too soon it works out bad.
I think the other key thing is show emotion when you feel it, and also when u should feel it. No use saying you are sad and don't see the point in getting up any more now you lost your hello kitty socks.... but if a friend or family gets a bad illness or dies or something, then saying how you are upset and letting a girlfriend try to help you, then you are actually allowing you to become closer.

I would agree with this, Myspace was very much for the 12-18 age group (mainly). Facebook seems to be appealing to people of all ages (my grandparents are on it lol).

Hmm. Thanks for the input, I definitely will work on reconstructing that rule. Got any other suggestions?

Haha. Thanks B. Fantom, I'm actually thinking of ditching my course of study and going into writing. So when I'm homeless and trading my writings for a cup of joe, I'll know who to blame lol

Haha, quite a read!

I don't agree with you fully, but I do get the urge to make my own list of how I roll.

...Maybe we should make a thing out of this?

I like it. Nice work. I only disagree here.

29. Places not to find a wife: bar, work, the subway, bookstore, coffee shop, online and at a concert.

I have friends of mine who have great good-looking loyal wives and they met
(1) on the subway (i.e. his wifey was a virgin when they met) (2) online (i.e. J-Date. ) (3) work (i.e. I know lots of guys who have met great wives at their workplace. Sometimes, a place they workeed temporarily)

I might have said: nightclub or strip bar instead. Im curious what was the logic here. Whats wrong with bookstores, coffershops or work?

i think ur right on that "dont show your emotions " part.. once i reveal how i feel about em.. zoom the girl is gone!!! lol
sadly i havent grasped that idea yet and just lost a nice girl.

Can you make it fit 1-2 pages rather than multiple pages?
unless your trying to get this published?

I suggest grooming, the "dont shave your legs" part is silly.. if your a hair guy, trim it with a guide. Be clean cut. no wild hair.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

To answer the questions...

Just as long you don't shave it! LOL And if you must, that's definitely not something you want to admit.

Basically, these places are really cliche. A lot of guys meet girls in bookstores or coffee shops and the first thing that pops into their mind is: "hmmm, I wonder if I dated her". That's how a lot of relationships start up...and because of this initial notion, it's usually destined to fail. LOL Not sure if that made too much sense, let me know though.

Thanks!

I did something like this a few years ago, my first three rules were:

1. The first rule is, you do not talk about the list.
2. The second rule is, YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE LIST.
4. Avoid telling lies at all costs.

In response to the smoking one, (39. Cigarettes are bad for you and you should quit. But that doesn’t mean you have to.) I would add that if you can't quit for whatever reason, you should cut down to (at most) ten a day.

I'm a dirty smoker and even I get disgusted with the way some of these people smell.

EDIT:

Also, in the interest of saving money (you had a couple of points in there) I would put in a rule about saving money by using the free resources offered online. and re-arrange the rules so that ones that refer to previous rules are directly after said rule.
