Okay, so there is this girl in my greater friend group. Easily an 8, and she knows it. Also that side of my friends are mostly guys, and it's easy to see that she is used to getting some attention. Lately she started hanging out a little more with me and some of my, for lack of a better word, cooler friends and they have also jumped straight into lavishing her with attention. Noticing this and remembering what I'd read here, I held back. Even managed a little neg when she said, "Do you want to date me, Builder?" and I replied with, "Pfft, I only date pretty girls." and then just kept acting casually.

Anyway, I logged onto Facebook just then to find a comment from here which simply read, "HI BUILDER." How should I reply to that? I've no idea..

When that happens its perfect because she is trying to grab your attention. No openers needed, just say "Hey :)" back. It's friendly, and unneedy. If she responds back you've got a convo started, if she doesn't you aren't the one to blame since you replied.

Word of advice use time constraints. If you feel like you are loosing confidence in the convo, you will have an excuse to leave.

Tell her you're so bored at work, tell her you're still in bed half asleep, tell her you're cooking. Just keep a window open to bail out.

Thanks for the reply! Do you still use these time constraints when it's a post on your wall, not an instant message? Because she said that seven hours ago now, haha. Still just reply with, "Hey :)" do you think?

Use time constraints during conversations. With 7 hour replies its ridiculous to use them. However on IM I use it, or if you are having fast replies on FB, you don't have to, but it gives me the option of ejecting when things start going in my favour. After all I'm not a pro at this so I know for a fact that I will eventually f*ck a conversation up and start DLV.

Ah yes, I see what you mean! A good idea I think, as I too know that I can't keep a conversation going for ages and continue to DHV the whole time :p

"Hey :)" it is!
