Well guys I'm gonna make this short and sweet as I've got work. I was doing some reading last night and I was looking up tips on AA. So today I pulled my finger out and got on with it. Guess what, I'm still alive and the world is spinning! YEEHA! I didn't try any openers (not too many anyway), just a simple 'Hi' or 'How ya doing' to ANYONE that passed even a HB8 gave me a smile. As soon as I reached my class (slightly late due to opening a couple of two sets) I felt fearless.

Then I got ahead of myself tries to open a HB7 with 'Wow your glasses are real interesting' as the words were leaving my mouth I knew I'd blown it, AFC central! What was I thinking? At least I'm getting it out the way now! Also I opened the Lab Assistant who is easily a HB7, we both left with a smile.

The reason I'm posting this is to let other Newbies know, that this is possible, and to just go for it! You won't get laughed at or anything. The feeling rocks, I can only compare it to scoring a try in rugby!
Life is for living!

Exactly. Girls aren't the monsters our minds make them out to be, lol. Unless you marry them . . . but that's another story.

Anyway, for future reference . . . "wow your glasses are real interesting" would have been better if it was something like "your glasses are too big/small". Catch her off guard. She may even ask why you think that or something, which will get her talking to you.

Yeah do what La trip is saying but you still could of said your glasses are real interesting and pulled it off. All you had to do is say it and use a tone and facial expression like she was a weirdo for wearing them.

Its more important how you say it then what.

Or make it a neg by saying, "You're glasses are interesting, but they're much too big/small for the shape of your face."

In situations like that, I've found that unless you give a specific trait on their face/body that makes the object not work, then they throw up a bitch shield, but if you say it doesn't work with the shape of their face, or the colour of their hair, etc, then they want to hear more because you have demonstrated an attention to detail. Then you just pick them apart with some negs and compliments and get them laughing and then tell them to look at how your shades, or your hat or whatever goes perfectly with whatever attribute with a big grin. If you say it seriously, then they will try to neg you, but if you act like the whole thing is just a big joke, then they get in on it with you and then you've built rapport that you can move to other topics with.
