Approach on a College Bus

I've been noticing a lot of HBs on the bus route from a few apartment complexes to campus at my school. I'm not really sure how to open any sets. What would be a few good openers for people who are pretty preoccupied with what they are going to do that day? A lot of people don't talk on the bus unless they know each other, so I'd like something that would get the game going without seeming like I'm trying to pick girls up. Help is appreciated.
