How do you deal with that?

I'm talking about when you're chatting to a chick or on a date with her (and she brings it up), or even starting a relationship with her.

I'm not a noobie generally, but I'm not too sure about this one.

I enjoy talking about these topics, but I'm well aware that they are contentious issues and no-nos when it comes to first-date conversation.

Currently, I'm sort of casually seeing a girl, and it's pretty obvious from her personality (and facebook page!) that she's very liberal. I'm pretty liberal too, but she's veering into socialism, which I'm against.

I'm not sure whether to indulge my pleasure in discussing politics and such (which will involve arguing against many of her beliefs), or to just make some brief comments and switch the topic.

if she brings it up, cool, go with it, just make sure you're standoff-ish and non aggressive about it.

just discuss and recognize that in the end, it doesn't matter what either of you believe.
