A female "friend" of mine has been away for a while. She asked me to email.

At first I heard nothing, but there has a been a steady flow of emails recently, all fairly short but nice.

However, today I was looking through the emails before posting this and noticed that she always replies an hour or two later. I'm not talking about time difference here - we email each other at all times. If I email her at 8.27, she will email back at 8.27, or 9.27.

Her replies aren't very long and it puzzles me why it takes her an hour to reply or seeing as she doesn't reply instantly why it doesnt drop out of her mind until the next day.

I have noticed that she is the same with texts, in that if we are texting a lot she will take 20 minutes to reply. At first it used to concern me, but now it is really predictable.

She also unless very drunk, avoids talking about anything other than frothy flirty stuff. She will briefly mention work stuff, will ask how mine is, but never acknowledges any personal or work stuff in my email. She will only ever mention the gossipy stuff, flirty stuff and plans to meet up.

She will often talk about us a group and say - 'you know I really love you all', or 'it would be so good to see you all', however the past few emails have ended 'looking forward to seeing you again. x'

So why the lack of directness most times, the long artificial reply times for email and text.
