Putting her in friend zone

wondering if anyone has had any success with someone they really like, after putting her in the friend zone. i verbally put her there, it was my last chance in lieu of never hearing from her again!
i know she was attracted to me before i made some pretty bad errors, so have kind of used it as a recovery mission to hopefully stall a bit of time, reestablish, and hope to pick up the attraction in a month or 2.
ive been 'friends' before and things have often escalated (primarily when i didnt really care or wasnt so needy as i seem to be on this girl!)...wondering if others have turned it round or succeeded with this amateur predicament. Tks.
