Hey, could somebody give me a few unique openers to use on the first day of school? Not necessarily for pickup, but even for some conversation starters with the guys.

Yea sure. "Hey, what's up. I'm [insert name here]." Honestly at school I make friends through friends. If you don't have any to start out with, just talk to people based on the situation. It's easiest to start in the classroom and ask about the schedule, etc. Just talk to them, I'm sure they want to meet people just as much as you do.
