I was talking to a friend yesterday and she started describing her boyfriend to me, how he bought her flowers and called her everyday during his vacation and lots of things which I thought was AFC. Then out of curiosity (since she's a friend) I asked her if girls found those kinds behaviors are desirable. She went on to say Of course and started talking about how she didn't like cocky guys and they come off as insecure, etc.

This confused me because it seemed to be the exact opposite of what the game have been teaching. Any inputs?

Attraction isn't a choice...
Girls are attracted by cocky and funny guys and guys that can apply the cat-string theory. This attraction doesn't happen on a conscious level, but on a subconscious one.
When a girl is asked what kind of guy she would like she'd go for a sweet, caring guy who brings her flowers and calls her always. But when you'd put a guy like that next to an alpha male in a social setting she will be attracted to the alpha male anyhow
