Hi guys,

I drive to work every morning and sometimes I see this HB8 at a taxi stand in my neighborhood. I have stopped the car couple of weeks back to offer her a lift to the place where I work (taxis do not come frequently in my neighborhood so I thought giving her a lift to a more central place where I work is good) but she has smiled and declined politely.

Since then, I have seen her 2 - 3 times and each time we smiled and waved at each other. I am now stuck and have no idea how I can approach her. Since she is heading to her workplace and I am to mine and both of us do not in the same area, there's simply no reason for me to offer her a lift again.

Also, it looks weird and unnatural if I were to stop my car deliberately along the road, run down and strike a conversation for 5 minutes.

I have a few ideas, perhaps you guys can enlighten me:

1. Give her a free sample of beauty products to try (I work in a beauty products company, so I can always say we are doing a market testing of a new beauty product and would like as many feedbacks as possible). Would this sound funny since nobody does test this way?

2. Just approach her directly and say "Hi, you are adorable and I would like to know you. But I gotta run, whats your email?". Bear in mind I am living in Asia and such approach may be quite "aggressive".

3. Offer her a ride again and say that "No worries, I am heading towards where you work for a meeting". Having said that, people here in Asia do not normally offer free rides, etc.

Any ideas?

you could always skip a day of taking your own car, and wait at the taxi stand with her and then use an approach. just say you're having some car troubles and wait for a taxi with her. who knows, maybe youll even get the chance to split a cab

She is smiling when she sees you? Great, she`s open minded and polite person. Next time stop, say something like: "I won`t offer you a drive again, cause you obviously are thinking who is this guy, but let`s have a coffe some day and we`ll have a chance to get to know each other. Then maybe later you can save some of your taxi money!"

Say it with a smile and correct body language and you are in the game my friend!

You could stop and ask her:

I feel a bit silly you asking you this you see I have to get to ........ and I am not sure how to get there. Could you give me some directions I was hoping the first time I saw you and offerd you a lift you would help me then because I thought you would have a good idea of where I needed to get to as you are local. I was just too embarrassed to ask last time when when you said no (DHV). OR

I also lived in asia for a while and I know it rains often so:

Next time you go past and its raining stop and give her an unbrella BUT dont offer her a lift. When you go past and see her again stop and ask for your unbrella back. Then you can work a routine - I would go direct and say - I have been invited/going to a party, launch, function, rockclimbing or whatever this weekend and I have to a few really good friends going and the SPAM is going to be great! so what is your name? start putting it into your phone as she is saying it and then give it to her and say just put your number in here so I can text you what time it starts. You look like kind of the person that could potentially meet some great friends and have a good time.

Dude I am not sure if any of these will work as I have not field tested them but I would try these myself if I was in this unique position. I have tried the - You look like the kind of person that could meet a potential new friend - and that has worked really well for me. Let us know how you go.
