How important is peacocking? I've been reading how some people peacock, and it sounds a bit extreme(ex: painting finger nails, wearing ridiculous neon hats, etc.). Now I understand that this will probably work for many people, because it shows that somebody is "fun," but is it necessary enough to change up my whole style? I usually dress pretty preppy. I'll wear jeans and a polo/lacoste shirt and a nice watch. Is there any way to peacock for a preppy look? Thanks in advanced.

OTT sunglasses, shoes etc etc. needless to say, not all peacocking needs to be so vulgur, wear what U feel comfortable in. If u think u look like a pric with a neon hat on guess what; inner game gone.

Peacockings basic princable is to do something differnt that will draw attention to you, in the aim the target will approch you, rather than u having to approch them (ofc second best being a later talking point).

Does that make sense? (5 days after surgery, painkillers are great 8) )

i wouldnt recommend a overly preppy look, i went to a highschool where if you had polo on you were a loser cux you couldn't afford lacoste. i saw alot of preppy styles at parties and the pest one is a bright (not pink) shirt something like lime green, blue or yellow, a nice red maybe dark jeans, a shiny watch nd diamond stud in your left ear. also all the italian kids wore gold chains which looked good.

but if you're in a preppy scene like i was i would recommend dressing like a stoner. i know that sounds strange but thats what i did and i stood out really well, and girls would approach me curiously.

but whatever you do, dont pop your collar (thats out of style) and dont were aviators like ever, if you own a pair, even if its really nice, just throw them out. popped collars and aviators are over used.

ok some real advice...lol

You can still dress preppy and peacock! no way! I don't even know what gave you the idea that you couldn't do that except maybe watching Mystery too much

The whole point of peacocking is so that you can stick out. Therefore if you want to keep your look you need to concentrate on accessories like jewelry. You can wear a crazy watch, cool beads, something that glows etc. Also if you have a good sense of fashion girls will take notice anyways.

As people have stated earlier, peacocking is about standing out.. \ if your style is preppy and classy.. why not stand out as the best dressed guy at the party.

Unless you are visiting some really high-end fashion orientated club, it shouldn't be to hard. Very few men actually know very much about style (if you are one of them, go see a stylist  )

Some quick ideas.. depending on the occasion, try switching the polo to a shirt (classier) and make sure it FITS you perfectly. Also make sure colors match (shoes and belt are the same color), socks and pants match (not socks and shoes!). Also make sure the colors you use work together (I think there was a good article about this on kinowear.com ).

These were just a few ideas to get you started, hope you find your style! :)
