| My question is, why does this happen? I'm new to the community and I wrote a thread a couple days ago about my first attempt with a swimming instructor. I didn't get any closes but I felt it was pretty good for a first time.
Anyways yesterday I went to a dance (only 18, and can't go clubbing haha) and I went over steps in my head... Opener, False time constraint, Neg the target, DHV... blah blah. But everytime I used a certain opener... it never really worked, whenever I negged, it seemed too harsh and they got extremely offended. It was just a bad night.
However on my way out... there was an HB6.5 that was helping out with the event. But she was someone that actually looked familiar. So I opened naturally.
Me: "Hey, you know what... you look really familiar"
Her: "Yeah, you look familiar too, I think I went to elementary school with you, you're _______ right?"
Me: "Hahah yeah I am... I still don't know you though?"
Her: "I have really good memory, I'm __________"
*We shook hands, and she actually turned out to be my friends older sister*
Me: "Nice to meet you, aren't you _____ sister?"
Her: "Yeah I am..."
Me: "Yeah, what school does your sis go to now?"
Her: "(School Name)"
Me: "No, doesn't she go to _____"
Her: "Yeah she does... I forgot"
Her: "You know I still remember you playing and stuff like that when you were a kid, and I remember you brother..."
*Some other chick I knew came up and said Hi and stuff... we hugged and stuff so maybe she got more intruiged because I shifted my attention elsewhere while she was saying something*
Me: "Kinda freaky, sorry I can't say I remember the same"
Her: "Aww don't you remember me playing the guitar and stuff with ____ and _____"
Me: "No I don't, I don't remember much of that time at all actually, I only went to that school for 4 years (from Kindergarten to gr.3 HAHAHA)"
Her: "Ha! Well I was there for 9 months!"
Me: "Wait... (I was thinking if I was only there from K-Gr.3... then I wondered how the hell she would remember me if she was older...) How old are you?"
Her: "I'm 22... (she must have been in gr.4-7 during that time)
Me: "I must have been a really cute kid then huh?"
Her: "Hahaha, I have really good memory, you're Filipino and Polish!"
Me: "Wow, you're really starting to freak me out... most people don't know this much about my life within 2 mins of talking"
Her: "hahaha shutup, like I said I have amazing memory"
Me: "Or you're my secret stalker..."
Her: "hahah oh be quiet"
Me: "Anyways, I can't keep my friends waiting... so since you know about my whole life... you can add me on facebook"
Her: "No you have to add me!"
Me: "Well I'll forget your name by the end of the night... and you have the good memory..."
Her: "Here... (she wrote her name on a paper and gave it to me)"
Me: "Okay then... see ya _______"
Her: "Bye ________!"
Obviously, me knowing her sister and going to school with her helped, so I don't know if it's actually game at all. Still dope I got her number being 22... we'll see where it goes haha. But even with the attempt with the Lifeguard... I just said things that came from the top of my head. And those were the 2 that seemed most effective.
So my question is... since my "natural" openers seemed to work best... should I keep going with that kind of opener? And if I should have pre-practiced openers... how do I make them SEEM natural?
