Ok my question is when is an IOI an IOI and when is it just a coincidence?

I have read that when a girl sits or stands close to with her back to you thats an AI(approach invitation), and we all know about about playing with hair.

My example: I was in an auditorium and I sat in the 3rd row from the back. The hb9 walks in and starts talking with her friends near the entrance behind me. Then she and her friend sat down in the row in front of me slightly to the right so that I was in her line of sight when she looked at the door... which she did a lot even when no one came in followed by playing with her hair.

layout of our positions
D=Door, M= Me, H= HB9

___H
__M
D

I know you actually have to see it in order to say if in that specific incident it was an AI/IOI but for future reference how do you know if it is a real IOI?

PS I know we are supposed to approach regardless of if there was an AI but I'm still curious, and I admit I was AFC and didn't approach, feel free to shun me as I deserve :?

I guess sometimes you can get carried away with what you think are IOI's.

Like I admit, I used to think everything was an IOI and a couple of days down the line realised they clearly weren't.

Most IOIs follows things you may have done or conveyed, like after you being hit on, having said something interesting, done something blablalba, and so on.

What would have been useful knowing is: did she look at you once in a while before she sat down? When she played with her hair, did she play with it towards you? Was there any eye-contact when she looked at "the door"?

I'm sorry to say, but since you hadn't talked to her, they may have been coincidental, especially since she was a 9. But what the hell, make an approach next time :)
