| This is something that's happened to me several times before, but only once since I started reading PUA stuff and working game. You know the deal: you're talking to a chick you're into, and she randomly starts talking about how hot some other guy in the room is.
There's a girl who's a semiregular at one of my favorite hangouts, and she's got this sexy attitude and is flirty as hell. We were doing some heavy bantering Monday at the bar and she couldn't get the bartender to notice she needed a refill. She casually tossed to me, "Urgh. He won't come over here. He's so hot!" I wasn't worried about it because I don't consider him a threat or really a factor at all in this situation, but I felt that if I didn't acknowledge the remark at all then my passivity would register as a DLV. I'm usually quick on my feet, but I was very careful because I didn't know quite what to say, and the wrong response in that situation can make you look like you're offended or jealous or just care too much. I didn't wanna respond by knocking him (he's a great guy, and that would make ME look bad), but of course, you can't go all needy and say, "What, I'm not good enough for you?"
I managed through it decently, I guess, with a flip "Okay. What am I supposed to do with that information?" I laughed a little when I said it so that it seemed like I just didn't really care either way what she thought of him, and I figured that also acknowledged the fact that she'd created what could have been an awkward moment.
Fortunately in this particular situation, she came back by flipping the script and then I, in turn, flipped it back on her and set things right. She turned to me and put her hand on my arm and, with her dirty grin, said, "You're hot too, you know." In a move ONE HUNDRED PERCENT stolen from Jack Nicholson in SPAM, I very slowly turned to her, one eyebrow arched, and said, "...I didn't ask." She loved that, it dislodged the awkward, the game rolled on from there, and I ended up with her number, a butt grab, and the assurance that we're about to have a lot of fun, so I worked it out okay THIS time.
But all situations don't include the girl realizing she made an error and attempting to fix it, and if she does, the fix doesn't always allow for a response as good as mine here. What do you do when a girl you're working (not in what's obviously headed for a LJBF, but a girl who's clearly interested) suddenly says a very different guy is hot?
