INTRODUCTION TO 5/3/1 The principles In a simplified way, 5/3/1 is based on 4 fundamental principles: Use large movements of multiple muscle groups. We are talking about the Squat , the Dead Weight , the Banking Press and the Military Press . There are no surprises here. You will never be really strong with isolation exercises. Start low : By initially training well below your highs you will not get burned, and you will get to the coolest workouts. Progress slowly.
