I was in the club the other night sitting with some previous acquaintances that are regulars for my Wednesday night spot and the conversation turns to awkward sex stories during high school and "friends with benefits." Everyone shared a story and then someone said "your turn" and everyone looked at me. Unfortunately, I didn't have good story so I said that. I kinda stumbled a bit and felt embarrassed because I didn't have a social life in high school. The conversation just went on after that. Question is should I have told the truth like I did, or just made up a DHV story? Does it really matter if people know how low status I used to be?
It really doesn't matter what you say it matters how you say it.
"Hey I wasn't always hot as shit you know, I didn't have much of a life in high school. I'm more of a Swan......"
I'm not saying you necessarily should have told the truth all I'm saying is that telling the truth isn't necessarily an impediment. It's the fact you feel crap about yourself and embarassed that is an impediment. You can't change the past, you can only learn to engage more fully with the present moment and have fun now.
