I used to have solid inner game and confidence back when I was in college. But after starting this job which happened to be soul-crushing with a nasty as f boss, my inner game shattered. I lost all my energy and confidence, and after work (long hours as well) all I wanted to do was nothing but lying on the bed.

Do you guys have any tips how to maintain your inner game and your "mojo" if you have a soul-crushing job? Quitting it is not an option for now as I struggle to find another job in my field with similar pay. Thanks!

It reads as though you have depression, have you considered seeing a counsellor or something?

Exercise, with an emphasis on moderate weight training. hit the gym every other day.

First, it's a fantastic way to blow off negative energy.

When you begin to build muscle mass, people will also treat you differently. Your boss will think twice about being a dick, and girls will think less about first night sex.

Great suggestion, I have always wanted to do some weight training as well. But the problem is I work from 9 to 7, and after arriving home and cooking my dinner it's already 9ish. Not easy to hit the gym after that.

Oh yeah within a matter of months.. or just a year.. this guy is going to blow up like a balloon!

Since he's totally going to threaten his boss with physical violence if his boss steps "out of line" after that!

take a day, cook meals for all weak, freeze, done. We all do that, everybody make excuses, but there is always a way.

Go to the gym right after work and have a snack or protein shake before the gym.

Then dinner after gym.

It's been my routine for years.

Is making money so you can pay your bills your life purpose? Or is there something you could be doing with your time that would make you happy?

You may have to sacrifice things now in order to be happy in the future. Things that your higher paying job allows you. Can you sacrifice your big screen TV in order to do something that would make you truly happy?

You only need 3x a week to get going. Two days during the week, and one on the weekend.

The others had great advice about going from work to the gym, then eating dinner. You'd think this would be a drag, but a couple weeks in you're realize you feel way better, and have more energy.

I agree nothing else to cope with stress and depression than working out, that is the way to cope with negative thoughts plus you are going to feel good with yourself. if you don have a lot of time try jumping the rope there are a lot of work outs on line for free, one of my favorite work out is jumping the rope and it only takes about 15 minutes, good cardio and even you can make it on your own house.

Thanks guys, just started working out yesterday, sure felt pretty good after that :)
I know this job is making me miserable, but for now I can only think of ways to regain my energy and inner game after work.

Anyone with similar experience here? There are many things I miss about college life, before starting full-time job, but you can't turn the clock back...

This is the only employment/path in your field of knowledge?
