Just came across this book that is one of the first so called "self help" books ever written.

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

The title is maybe a bit strong but that's no surprise as they usually are put in place by the publishers rather then the authors. I have to say the subjects of the book seem very basic and obvious, but put in to context and with a large number of examples, i found it a great read. It's one of those things that "you know already", but don't actually practice for some reason (well, i know the reason, ego and a self centered attitude).

I was wondering if anyone else found the book a good read. It's not specifically aimed at seduction, but people in general.

It's the first self-help book I've read, but some things from the book (such as the double-handed handshake) is outdated at least where I live. It's a good start but by no means the end.

Lol that's the principle of most self-help books.

Carnegie is nice to read, with all his anecdotes about famous and less famous people, but for maybe half of his advices (like "let the other person feel like the idea is his" or "arouse in the other person an eager want") he doesn't teach you how to do it. I found "The Charisma Myth" to be more pratical-oriented (even though the latter is also filled with shitty scientific explanations).

It was one of the first of its kind, there are better out there. Its a solid read though and shouldn't be taken for granted. It is often the most simple concept that people take for granted. People tend to think success is found in something complicated, when in fact success is all about consistently doing the smart and simple things. So if you're looking for something complex, you may want to rethink that.

The Way Of The Superior man by David Deida is also a great read.

Excellent book for better understanding the masculine and feminine dichotomy.

Agreeing with the host of an event on a certain matter, regardless of him being blatantly wrong, simply because he's the host, for example.

Ah sure. But the way i understood it, it was meant to depict getting influence WITH the host. In such a situation, showing the rest of the guests of how wrong the host was on the subject, might not have been the best thing to do; at least not in the presence of other people.

RC once got bitten by a rattle-snake. After 3 days of excruciating pain, the snake died.
