Not gonna lie, you're living up to your name with that question. Your chances of getting a girlfriend increase "drastically"? I'm dubious about that one. And what part of being both skilful and emotionally expressive would you expect not to tap into a woman's loins?

The article doesn't say it's a 31% increase in getting numbers. It says he had 31% success while holding a guitar. 14% when his hands were empty, and 9% when carrying a sports bag.

Either way though, he hit on only 100 women for each item, so this isn't exactly some scientific study. That's not enough, plus you could easily chalk up any increase in numbers to maybe the guy feels more confident when holding a guitar etc.

It doesn't really tell you anything. I play a bit of guitar and the only real way it has ever helped me with girls is that it's a great line to get them back to your house. Other than that I've found it pretty worthless. But that might be different if you are talking about a guy in an actual band performing for a crowd.

Actually the article's numbers are more impressive than yours. 121% increase in numbers gained and 180% increase in responses on FB. No mention of getting a girlfriend. Nevertheless as a guitarist I welcome it.

a) i don't want to have to carry a guitar around
b) even if you are playing shows in sold out clubs, if you don't have some semblance of "game" you will still not see much if any activity.
c) verbal game is the name of the game
