Hi guys,

So I often get compliments when I'm out in clubs etc, especially people saying I smell nice cos I have an aftershave which isn't available here in the UK which girls absolutely love, and I never know how to reply. What should one say to this or any other compliment?

Cheers,
Neptune

Its so much what you say, its more about the spirit you receive the compliment in. Do you turn your nose up at it? Do you feel unworthy of it? Do you embrace it with confidence and appreciation?

I'm guessing you're asking the question because you're looking for a way to get a reaction or a way to elicit another positive response from the person delivering it. And if thats the case, the spirit you receive it in is a lot more important than how you respond to it.

If you're looking for a way to introduce conversation that has potential to go somewhere you can say " Thank you sweetie.. What does it smell like? " - That'll result in a open and elaborate response, thinking(investment) will be involved.

"Thanks" will do as well. Although thats something said in "passing". Its a "moving on" kind of response.

Either way, the frame projected - the "how" you receive it is way more important than the "what" in your response.
