As a newbie, this is a question i've been dying to ask: what's the deal with aftershave?

Does a strong smell of aftershave make you seem as if you're trying too hard to attract attention? Especially in a one to one situation with a girl. Is the strength the key.

Any help on this would be great people.

I don't think stregth is the key as much as what you are trying to convey. I've heard of some PUAs actually wearing perfume. I guess the logic behind it is it has the potential for an automatic opener.

HB: Hey are you wearing " "?
PUA: Do you always sniff random guys you don't know?

I guess it could convey many things. First, she's probably thinking no straight guy would be wearing perfume so her thought process will think you were with a girl before you walked into the target rich location, similar to Mystery's "fake lip stick on the neck". So that will show her DHV. Also it's letting her open you, saving you from experiencing approach anxiety and it gives you an opportunity to throw a neg at her. So you're actually killing 2 birds with one stone... or 3 in this case: a neg, the opener, and a DHV.

Me personally I've never done it but I need to...I definitely see how it can work.

I often get compliments when wearing aftershave. Even from my mom. Some girls will go crazy for ones they like. the bad thing about it is, <u>You need to be in a situation where the target will be close enough to your face to smell it for it to do any good.</u>

Some PUAs use perfume to convey a sense of pre-selection and social worth. You use the perfume smell to make the targets think that you have been with a girl recently. It's been scientifically proven that women think more of a man if other females think highly of him.

Issey Miyake apparantly induces the Lynx effect when used. Smells quite nice in all fairness, haven't road tested it though.
